One-For-Two Signal Engine

Marks a completed 1-for-2 signature on closed candles, prints its measured range in points, and alerts at the close of the candle that completes it.

What it draws

  • The signature candle, coloured green for bullish and red for bearish (R-8.5).
  • A small triangle under or over the candle when the signature used the four-bar inside-candle variation (R-8.3), so you can tell the two forms apart at a glance.
  • A line from the sequence extreme to the signature close, labelled with the range in points — the measurement R-8.7's 10-point minimum is applied to.

What it needs to be correct

Chart, symbol and session. A tool that is right on one chart and wrong on another, silently, is the thing this table exists to prevent.

Chart timeframe
Any. The signature is read from the candles you are looking at, so a 1-minute chart marks 1-minute signatures and a 5-minute chart marks 5-minute ones.
Symbol
Any. Built for NQ and MNQ; the logic is candle geometry and has no symbol-specific numbers except the point thresholds, which are inputs.
Session
No requirement. It does not read session times.
Repaint
Nothing is drawn or alerted from a candle that is still forming. Every reading below is decided at a close. The one exception is the 'Only mark and alert on closed bars' input, which is ON by default; turning it off shows the forming candle and is documented as repainting.

Inputs

Where the One42 framework records a question as unresolved, the tool exposes an input instead of choosing quietly. The note says which number is James's and which is yours.

Minimum signature range

10.0 points

R-8.7: under 10 points it is not a one-for-two. Set 0 to see every pattern that matches the geometry.

Signature range measured as

Extreme → signature close

G-6: the rulebook never states the two anchors unambiguously. The alternative — extreme to signature extreme — is selectable, and neither is asserted as James's answer.

Allow the four-bar inside-candle variation

On

R-8.3 / R-8.4: one skipped inside candle maximum, four bars maximum.

Only mark and alert on closed bars

On

Off shows the live candle building a signature. Useful to watch, never to trade or alert from.

What invalidates a reading

The conditions under which the tool says nothing, or takes a level away. Knowing these is most of knowing how to read it.

  • A sequence needing two skipped candles to complete is not a one-for-two (R-8.4) and is never marked.
  • A signature whose range is under the minimum is not marked at all — it is not a small signature, it is not one (R-8.7).
  • The signature candle's body must close through the bodies of BOTH counted candles. Closing through only the nearer one is not the pattern.

What each alert means

Bullish one for two
A bullish signature closed on this candle, and its range met the minimum.
Bearish one for two
The mirror.
Any one for two
Either of the above, for a single alert slot.

A bullish signature on the 1-minute

One worked example, start to finish.

  1. 1Three candles print: a low, then a lower low, then a candle whose low is above the middle candle's low.
  2. 2The third candle closes above the bodies of the first two, and closes above its own open. That is the signature (R-8.1).
  3. 3The engine measures from the lowest low of the sequence to that close: 12.25 points. It is over 10, so the candle turns green and a labelled line is drawn.
  4. 4The alert fires once, at that candle's close. If the candle had reversed and closed back under the bodies before the minute ended, nothing would have been drawn and no alert would have been sent.

What this tool does not decide for you

Stated rather than left to be discovered, because a filter you thought was included and is not is the most expensive kind of surprise.

  • Which two points the range is measured between (G-6) is an input, not a default anyone should treat as canonical.
  • The engine marks the signature. It does not know about the hunt, the session, or the blackout window — those are the LQG panel's job, and a green candle is not permission to trade one.

This is an analysis tool, not a signal service and not advice. Nothing here implies an outcome, and trading futures involves substantial risk of loss — read the full risk disclosure.
