Risk Disclosure

Read this before you buy anything, and before you place a trade using anything you learn here. It is the shortest honest summary of what futures trading can do to an account.

Section 01

Trading futures involves substantial risk of loss

The core statement

Trading futures involves substantial risk of loss and is not suitable for every investor. You can lose more than the amount you initially deposit. Past performance is not indicative of future results. You should not trade with money you cannot afford to lose entirely.

Futures markets can move faster than orders can be filled, can gap through the price where you intended to exit, and can move against a position far enough to close it out before the reasoning behind the trade has had a chance to be right or wrong. A stop order is not a promise that a position closes at a specific price.

Most people who trade retail futures accounts lose money. Nothing on this site, in the One42 tools, in the Core Program, or in mentorship changes that fact, and nothing here is offered on the basis that it will.

Section 02

Leverage and margin

Futures contracts are leveraged. The margin posted to hold a position is a fraction of the notional value the contract controls, which means a small move in the underlying index produces a much larger move in the account. Leverage magnifies losses exactly as it magnifies gains.

If an account falls below the maintenance margin your broker requires, the broker may issue a margin call or liquidate positions without notice, at whatever price is available at the time. Margin requirements are set by exchanges and brokers, not by Trade142, and they can change — including intraday, and including during the conditions in which you are least able to respond.

Section 03

The specific instrument taught here

The One42 framework is taught on NQ — Nasdaq-100 futures. It is a futures market. Nothing on this site concerns foreign exchange, equities, options, or digital assets, and the framework should not be assumed to transfer to them.

NQ is a fast, high-range instrument. Single one-minute candles around the cash open regularly cover a meaningful fraction of an entire average day's range. That characteristic is part of why the framework is built the way it is, and it is also why an execution error on NQ is expensive in a way it might not be elsewhere.

Section 04

This is education, not advice

Trade142 provides educational content and charting tools. Nothing on this site, in any lesson, in any indicator output, in any email, or in any mentorship session is:

  • a recommendation to buy or sell any futures contract or any other instrument;
  • personalised investment, financial, tax, accounting, or legal advice;
  • an offer to manage, direct, or trade any account on your behalf;
  • a statement that any particular trade, setup, or session is suitable for your circumstances, your account size, or your risk tolerance.

Mentorship reviews are retrospective and educational. When James reviews a submitted trade, he is assessing whether it followed the framework's stated rules — not advising you on what to trade next. You should consult a qualified professional who knows your personal circumstances before making any financial decision.

Section 05

Registration and membership status

Status

Trade142 and James Norman are not registered with the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission in any capacity, are not members of the National Futures Association, and do not manage money, hold client funds, or place trades on behalf of any client.

You should not infer from anything on this site that Trade142 or James Norman holds a licence, registration, designation, or regulatory approval of any kind. This statement is under review by counsel and will be updated if the structure of any product changes.

The legal entity operating this site is JBN Management & Consulting LLC, formed in Florida, at 66 W. Flagler St., Suite 900, Miami, FL 33130.

Section 06

No representation about earnings or results

Standing rule

Trade142 makes no representation, promise, or implication that you will earn money, recover losses, achieve any particular win rate, reach any account size, become profitable, or become profitable within any period of time. No such claim is authorised, and no statement anywhere on this site should be read as one.

The name "One For Two" describes a candlestick signature the framework defines. It is not a claim about risk-to-reward, a target ratio, or an expected outcome, and it must not be read as one.

Your results depend on your capital, your discipline, your execution, your broker, the market conditions you happen to trade into, and factors outside anyone's control. Two people applying the same rules on the same day can and do end up with different outcomes.

Section 07

Charts, examples, and simulated results

Teaching a chart-based framework means showing charts. Every historical chart, annotated example, bar-replay walkthrough, or indicator screenshot on this site is a retrospective illustration of how the framework's rules label price action that has already happened. Marking a level on a finished chart is not the same as having traded it, and it must not be read as a record of trading.

Where a simulated or hypothetical result appears

Every replay walkthrough, drill, and worked example in the Core Program is simulated. So is every result any student produces while completing it, because the program requires simulation throughout and certifies nothing about live trading. U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission Regulation 17 CFR § 4.41(b) requires the following cautionary statement wherever hypothetical or simulated performance is presented, and it applies to all of it.

CFTC Rule 4.41 — hypothetical performance

Hypothetical or simulated performance results have certain limitations. Unlike an actual performance record, simulated results do not represent actual trading. Also, since the trades have not been executed, the results may have under- or over-compensated for the impact, if any, of certain market factors, such as lack of liquidity. Simulated trading programs in general are also subject to the fact that they are designed with the benefit of hindsight. No representation is being made that any account will or is likely to achieve profit or losses similar to those shown.

Any hypothetical result we publish will state the assumptions behind it — instrument, timeframe, date range, position size, and whether commissions and slippage are included. A result without those assumptions is not a result.

Section 08

What the One42 tools do and do not do

The One42 TradingView indicators mark and alert patterns that the framework defines. They draw levels, mark gaps and their inversions, label session extremes, and highlight the One-For-Two signature.

  • They do not place, modify, or close orders, and they have no access to any brokerage account.
  • They do not evaluate whether a trade should be taken, and an alert is not a signal to enter.
  • They describe what the framework says is present on the chart. They make no claim that what is present will be followed by any particular price movement.
  • They depend on TradingView, a third-party platform whose availability, data, and script behaviour are outside our control.

Read the method page for what each tool is actually looking at.

Section 09

Brokers, prop firms, and third parties

Trade142 does not operate a brokerage, a proprietary trading firm, or a funded-account programme, and does not hold or have access to customer funds. Any broker, futures commission merchant, prop firm, data vendor, or platform you use is a separate business with its own terms, its own risks, and its own fees.

Compensation disclosure

Neither JBN Management & Consulting LLC nor James Norman receives any commission, rebate, referral fee, revenue share, or funded-account benefit from any broker, futures commission merchant, prop firm, data vendor, or platform mentioned anywhere in our material. Nothing we teach is steered by who pays us, because on that side of it nobody does.

If that ever changes, the arrangement will be disclosed on this page and next to every mention of the firm concerned, before you are asked to act on the recommendation.

Section 10

Every decision is yours

You are solely responsible for every order you place, every position you size, every risk you take, and every consequence that follows. Trade142 has no visibility into your account and no ability to act on it. Learning a framework does not transfer responsibility for using it.

If you do not understand a risk described on this page, do not trade until you do.
